I wasn't actually assigned to ships company during my stint onboard
the Ranger. Rather, I was assigned to the Air Wing, HS-14 to be exact,
and deployed on her whenever she went out during her last couple of
years in service. She was my first ship, and definitely the most
          memorable.

I took these photos during the Ranger's final cruise in late '92.

These are pictures of when a Russian Helix landed onboard while we
were doing some joint operations out in the Gulf. What makes
this most significant is the fact that this the first time in
          naval history that a

Russian aircraft has ever landed on an American ship. It was
history in the making. The group photo shows the crew of the
Russian helo, as well as our ships skipper, Captain McGuinn. (Click on thumbnails to view larger photo.) |
