I served on Ranger 1965-67. During that time, Dieter Dengler was shot down, and made his escape. In later years, Dieter and I became friends, and I became a newspaper writer, then book author. I was working with him on a book about his experiences at the time he died. I suppose you know there is a movie about to be released: Rescue Dawn, with Christian Bale portraying Deiter? It's due out in Dec. for Oscar consideration, with full nat'l release in Feb. |
