LES PROCTOR GARAGE    
411 East 9th

In 1953 Les & Hazel Proctor moved into the house at 901 New York they had purchased from Duane E. Ogle.  On the west section of the property was this building 411 East 9th. This had been the business of C. W. Ogle's Furs Hides & Wool that opened approx. 1920 (C. W. Ogle was Duane E. Ogles father)  Les razed this building and built his 'Auto Repair Garage' in it's place.  (see pics. below)

In 1954 Les Proctor began tearing down the 411 building with the help of his son Richard and other family members

 A long 2 yr. period building it with only being able to work on it in spare time.  Les was a small business owner.  He was self made, he had a skill and used it to feed his family.  He worked his whole life with his hands and was successful.

1956 -  Finished Garage for 
Auto repair and body work.

1969 -Lester D. Procter retired from his business, “Les Proctor’s Garage,”
at 411 E. 9th Street. His son, Lester N. then ran his electrical business here for a period of time.
